چکیده

This work is aimed at investigating the use of neural network-based adaptive receivers for synchronous variable bit-rate Multi-Carrier CDMA systems transmitting over low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite channels. It is known by literature that MC-CDMA techniques are much more resilient with respect to multi-user interference effects in multipath fading channels than single-carrier DS/CDMA ones. Moreover, MC-CDMA exhibits a natural capability to deliver multirate services simply by assigning to each user a variable-cardinality set of subcarriers. However some problems should be faced related to the correct channel estimation and equalisation that are necessary to MC-CDMA schemes for providing acceptable BER results. The proposed neural-network (NN) based MC-CDMA receiver allows to overcome the limitations involved by the conventional equalisation methods, reaching a significant performance improvement of the considered transmission system.

Neural network-based techniques for efficient detection of variable-bit-rate signals in MC-CDMA systems working over LEO satellite networks

For a few years, multicarrier modulations have been proposed as valuable alternatives with respect to state-of-the-art single carrier ones due to their resilience against interference and channel distortion effects. In particular, many studies are arising about multicarrier-CDMA (MC-CDMA) techniques that provide improved robustness and flexibility with respect to single-carrier spread-spectrum ...

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
